Hello my spiritual brothers and sisters.
In this article I would like to tell you about my journey from being raised in an organised Christian religion to a more open spiritual mindset.
So firstly, let’s define a couple of concepts; Concept one: What is organised Christian Religion? An organised religion can be defined as a structured system of faith or worship, especially one followed by a large number of people, such as Christianity, Islam, or Judaism. Often this form of worship has a theistic ( a belief in a God(s)/Goddesses) dogma and a strict set of rules that must be followed or you may be removed from the fellowship of the church or organisation. Examples of these rules are, but not restricted to, strict obedience to Deity(s), monetary donations to fund the religion/organisation and regular worship in a physical space such a church, temple or mosque.
Concept two; The open spiritual mindset; This form of worship is more about the study of all religions and forms of universal communication with “Source” in all its forms, rather than the worship of a God(s)/Goddess. This mindset also allows the individual to be a bit freer in their location, style of worship and communication methods.
In my case, I was raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, commonly known as the Mormons. The LDS church is a Christian based religion and as such has a unique monotheistic viewpoint.
My membership in the church stems back through my fathers side of the family who were members from the foundation of the church.
My mothers side of the family was raised in a combination of Christian Science, later to convert into Presbyterianism. My mother chose to join the LDS church when she married my father in order to have a unified Christian front. She did, however, disagree with a few of the teachings.
With these two different religious backgrounds I was raised with the core belief systems of the LDS church, however I was encouraged to review all of my options and seek guidance from “God”
Growing up, I had a variety of church related “spiritual experiences”. I say church related, as at the time I was leaning more towards the indoctrinated teachings rather than an open minded understanding.
These experiences ranged from what I perceived as personal communications from Deity, physical healing of both of myself and the assisting in healing of others by a variety of methods and even visitations of a variety of non living entities.
We were “encouraged” to keep most of these experiences to ourselves as they were deemed “Sacred” and should only be shared as examples within the proper settings.
As I reached my teens in the mid 1980’s I was introduced to what was known at the time as “Metaphysics”. This was the term commonly used to describe the ideas and actions which included the usage of crystals, tarot cards and other forms divination to understand the universe, communications within and the purpose for which we are here.
Many of the church’s of the day and even to this day would classify these forms of study/worship/understanding as witchcraft or teachings of the Devil.
However, with my open minded upbringing, I was allowed and even encouraged to study everything. And this I did, even to the dismay of many of my more strict formal church leaders.
As my learning progressed, I began to open up to a whole different world of understanding. I began to feel and sometimes even see the natural energies produced by the various tools I was learning about and using. These tools included a variety of crystals, tarot cards and third eye perceptions.
My main focus to start, was learning what things “felt right vs wrong” to my spiritual self. As I grew in understanding and practice , I began to know what items, stores and even people I could associate with or handle depending on the particular aura/energy they produced.
Fast forward to around 5 years ago when I decided that I needed to understand more of my personality, rather than focus on the “spiritual gifts” I had been given.
These studies took me on a journey starting by using astrology to profile my personality. I began to diligently research the different zodiac signs and traits of both Eastern and Western cultures. Eventually writing my own E-book on how to use those tools as way to help better understand your own personality.
These studies slowly began to open my understanding of myself and I deal with life. By applying the principals I was learning I began to improve my abilities to work with others and deal with the stresses and anxieties of life .
As time went on, I began to notice that my spiritual gifts were also becoming more active. This began to cause me a bit of distress as I was trying to balance the core Christian belief systems I was following with the added spiritual experiences that I couldn’t explain via the formal religious teachings.
Over time, with a great deal of study I have come to understand that entity which I had been identifying as “God” was also identified as “Source” by the alternate side of spiritual followers. As this thought began to clarify itself, I came to the conclusion that, Source, can and does speak to all humankind in a language that each person understands.
This language is not always a vocal system, such as English, Spanish, French, etc.. but sometimes is a feeling or visions via the third eye. No matter how the information is received it’s still communication.
Now, rather than just having a belief system in a Christian God, I have decided to identify myself as a spiritual person with a history of being raised in a organized Christian church.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
If you have a story you wish to share, please feel free to do so. Please, however, do not be mean or disparaging to my story or the story of others.
The Piscean Christian.
